How to Reorder Pages in a PDF

Page order goes wrong in predictable ways. A document feeder scanned the stack back to front, files were merged in the order they happened to upload, or an annex ended up in the middle of a contract instead of at the end. The content is all there; it is simply in the wrong sequence.

Reorganising is a drag-and-drop job, and it does not touch the pages themselves. This guide covers rearranging a document in the browser, checking the result properly, and how reordering differs from merging or splitting.

When you need to reorder PDF pages

  • Fixing a document that was scanned back to front by an automatic feeder.
  • Moving annexes, appendices or signature pages to where they actually belong.
  • Correcting the sequence after merging several files that uploaded in an arbitrary order.

How to reorder PDF pages step by step

  1. Open the Organize PDF tool

Go to the Organize PDF Pages page. Everything runs in the browser, without installation or an account.

  2. Upload the document

Drag the PDF onto the upload area or pick it from the dialog. Every page appears as a thumbnail in its current position.

  3. Drag pages into place

Move each thumbnail to where it belongs. For a completely reversed scan it is usually quickest to work from the last page backwards rather than nudging pages one at a time.

  4. Review the whole sequence

Read the thumbnails in order before saving. Chapter openings, signature pages and anything with a printed page number are the fastest way to confirm the order is right.

  5. Save and download

Apply the new order and download the document. The pages are unchanged — only their sequence is different.

Common problems and how to fix them

The whole document is reversed

This is a duplex scanner artefact and it is common. Reorder the pages here, and next time check the scanner's reverse-order setting before scanning the stack.

You also need to remove pages

Reordering and deleting are separate tools. Remove the unwanted pages first with Remove Pages, then reorder what is left — that way you are not dragging pages you are about to throw away.

Printed page numbers no longer match

Numbers printed on the pages are part of the page image and move with it. If the printed numbering matters, the document has to be regenerated from its source rather than rearranged.

Reordering, merging or splitting

Reorder when everything you need is already in one file and only the sequence is wrong. Nothing is added or removed, so the document stays exactly as it was in every other respect.

Merge when pages are missing because they live in another file, and split when you want a shorter document containing only certain pages. The three tools work well together: merge the parts, drop what you do not need, then reorder the result.

Pertanyaan yang Sering Diajukan

Does reordering affect page quality?

No. Pages are moved as they are; nothing is re-rendered or re-encoded.

Can I move several pages at once?

Pages are dragged individually, which keeps the operation predictable. For long documents, work in sections.

Can I delete pages here too?

Use the Remove Pages tool for that, then reorder the trimmed document.

Will the page numbers update automatically?

Numbers printed on the pages are part of the content and stay with their page. Only the document order changes.

How large a document can I reorganise?

Files up to 100 MB, with no limit on the number of pages or documents.

Are my files stored?

No. Uploads are removed from the server automatically an hour after processing.
